About Jackie
My name is Jockline Mabenge, but everyone calls me Jackie. I currently live in Cape Town. I am married and a mother to 3 amazing and unique girls. My baking journey started in 1998 when I was in my first year of high school where I was doing food and nutrition as my practical subject. I went on to get a degree in international marketing. My passion for cooking and baking remained within me during many years. I also love children and making them happy, so became a preschool teacher, a nanny for some incredible families and a relief teacher specialised in food and nutrition, to also working in the marketing field. My truth is, baking has remained engraved in my heart.
I have always baked part time for my family and friends and decided to jump in with courage and faith and go full time in July 2023. I felt it deep within me and always had the intuition to start a baking business. My colleagues also encouraged me to take my baking to the next level and do it full time, having seen what I did for ‘fun’. My passion and love for baking has finally landed with Happy Cakes.
My vision and purpose is to become the go-to baker for fun, delicious, memorable and customised baking creations for any occasion. I want to show my 3 daughters that they too can open a successful business and at the same time, make people happy. One day, I wish to share my knowledge and open a baking school.
